director's potrait

The Director,Lady Valeria Vocational And Business College Matugga.

Lady Valeria was founded in 2003 by Violah Naluwooza Ndawula to provide life long education, hands-on skills training, and knowledge to increase students' employability and sharpen their Entrepreneurial skills. Special emphasis was on many students who did not go to university due to financial challenges or lack of necessary documents. Initially three courses (secretarial studies, cooking and nursery teaching) were taught in 3 college buildings by 5 staff. Only one student at the beginning and about 35 students by the end of the first term.

Our college has grown tremendously ever since and is currently skilling over 1000 students in more than 14 long and short courses. The long courses are two years and the short courses are six months. The college is run by carefully selected, well-trained, and competent staff in teaching and non-teaching departments.

Our students have access to clean, safe spacious and well equipped indoor and outdoor facilities for both learning and extra-curricular purposes. Facilities include teaching rooms, well stocked salons, tailoring rooms, garages and service bays, kitchen, dormitories, sick bays, sports grounds with facilities for soccer, volley ball and basketball among others.

LVVBCM is nationally accredited and awards students' certificates from DIT,UBTEB and Kyambogo university(for the early childhood development). In line with national TVET Policy, our college is open to anyone that has completed Primary Seven (P7). We urge students to complete the full courses and not abandon studies as soon as they acquire basic skills as each course has a Well thought and detailed curriculum. We also enroll students that have completed university but are interested in acquiring hands-on skills.

We offer a blend of theory and practical classes on hands on training to prepare Students for the workspace. Our students participate in industrial training in reputable organizations where they interact with professionals in their field, apply skills in real-life situations and get workplace experience. Under supervision, they accumulate more work experience while providing services(electrical, plumbing, hairdressing, catering, etc) to the Matugga community that is an integral part of us. The community further serves as a source of reputable service providers to our college.

We celebrate diversity and embrace our differences in cultural and religion as we host cultural and sports days where students explore their talents and teach others about their cultures. We also have prayer rooms for all denominations. (catholics, Anglicans, SDAs, and Muslims) where our students and staff engage in religious activities and services with their leaders.

Our flexibility and commitment to our students are evident in our school process and different teaching methods. Our students can communicate any challenges like those that are unable to be in boarding are permitted to commute or flexible fees payment arrangements.

Our students have been found exceptional in discipline, time management and hard work, giving them a competitive advantage when looking for jobs or vying for promotions. They posses both the hard skills for employment and soft skills like leadership, teamwork, problem-solving and communication obtained through teaching and non-teaching activities at the college.

LVVBCM prides itself as an institution committed to growing and learning through adopting best practices , providing more facilities to accommodate more students, and making changes to adapt to the changing environment.

Vocational training is a strong foundation for skilling and building a confident, competent and skilled workforce. We look forward to parents and students fully embracing technical and vocational learning as a prestigious, practical, and great education option and not viewing it as a last resort or a lesser form of education.

We thank our parents and guardians for entrusting LVVBCM with their children. And above all, God who has brought us this far. We also appreciate our students, staff, the community, and everyone that as been part of our journey as "we labour for the future".
